A Special Gift

At the end of July, I went to visit both of my Grandparents. Turns out, it would be the last time I saw my Grandmother. What a special visit... I'm so glad I saw her.
She has a special tradition for each of her grandchildren. When they are pregnant with their first baby, she makes them a "pregnancy basket" filled with individually wrapped gifts. There is one gift for each month of the pregnancy for mommy to open. I got my "pregnancy basket" on that last visit to my Grandmother's house.
I'm amazed at the fact that I have a basket full of presents to open from my Grandmother - even after she is gone. I open each one on the first day of the month - but I opened my September gift last Friday, after Grandmother passed away. The gifts aren't marked as to which one to open when, but one had a card with it, so I opened it up. It was a spa lotion set, and soft, cozy socks. The card is now near and dear to my heart.
I am so blessed.

My Prayer Warrior

WARNING..... Emotional blog ahead

My heart is breaking as I write this..... my dear, sweet Grandmother passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning. She turned 82 on August 11th. Right now, I feel so many emotions. I want to write so many things, but I keep erasing what I write. It doesn't do her justice... it's not good enough.
I'm so sad that she won't get to meet our sweet baby.... she was so excited about this pregnancy. In February 2010, my grandfather passed away... she missed him so much. Then, in May of 2010, she was in a serious car wreck with my aunt and uncle. She worked so hard and recovered well. She told me on multiple occasions how much she was looking forward to meeting Baby Moore. It seemed to both of us that this baby was such a light, an inspiration for her to look forward to.
Now, darkness fills my heart when I think that she won't be there on the day that I deliver, she won't rock my sweet baby, or sing to him/her.
Oh the stories I could tell of her keeping me when I was a baby... when my mom was working. I was spoiled beyond belief.
She was also my prayer warrior. I could call her with any concern, any request.. anything... she would say "I'll pray." She meant it, and I never once doubted that she remembered every request. Or on occasion, when things were really tough, I would call her and she would pray over the phone. She said this baby's middle name should be "pray". She prayed every evening for my health, and for the baby's healthy development. I will have to take over the role of prayer warrior for my baby and my family.
I truly hope to be at least half of the woman of God that she was.

Update

I had my 14 week check-up last Thursday with Dr. Sudella. I have to say, I think he's the best Dr. ever :)
Right now, baby is the size of a navel orange:
I'm feeling pretty good... especially now that I'm entering my 2nd trimester. However, I'm not able to eat red meat at all - it makes me nauseous and dizzy... no thank you. I'll pass.
So, I'm getting pretty tired of eating chicken. I've only gained about 3 lbs. I was pretty nauseous weeks 6-12. My Dr. doesn't really have a "goal weight" for me, he simply encouraged me to gain what I can. He did say he'd like to see me gain one pound a week from here on out.
For those of you who don't know me well, I have very high metabolism and it's hard for me to gain weight at all. This has been my primary concern so far during this pregnancy. I'm trying to eat healthy, but also trying to gain weight.
I'm looking forward to feeling our baby MOVE!!!
Monday September 19th will be a big day! Sonogram at 8:30 (hopefully baby will cooperate and we'll find out if we're having a boy or girl!) and then 18 week check-up right after.
I'm planning a gender-reveal party for friends and family sometime after that appointment - any cute ideas??

Rubberbands and Bellybands

I'm officially 13 weeks today - my pants are getting a little tight!
I can typically use a rubberband looped around the button of my jeans so that I can wear them however I have to use the BellaBand to make my dress pants fit! It's fun seeing change!
Here's a picture from last Friday when I was 12 weeks

There's a tiny baby bump showing!
I've had a few friends and family loan me maternity pants, I've bought one pair at Old Navy - they're still a little stretchy and baggy :)
I have my 14 week check up in one week!

Sweet Surprise Today

I got a special treat today... I went to my doctor's office for routine 1st trimester bloodwork. The nurse wanted to double check something so she scheduled me for an ultrasound!
I was so excited!
Here's a picture of our baby from today:
Little arm on the side, and two little legs folded up. Baby is about 2.5 inches right now. Looks kinda squished in there to me!
I'm doing great - feeling good most of the time. My morning sickness isn't too bad, it's really just an overall queasy feeling... which gets pretty bad if I eat red meat. So, I'll be avoiding that for awhile. I don't really think I have much of a "baby bump" to show off yet.... I just feel bloated!!
Clint and I visited both of my grandparents this past Saturday. This baby is spoiled already! I came home with delicious food, and baby blankets!
Clint and I can't wait to find out if this sweet baby is a precious girl or a beautiful boy!! In Clint's words... "either way the baby can learn to play guitar and play sports."
